EVENTS

Sferisterio

The Sferisterio, with its two tiers of boxes, is a true Italian-style theater—the only one of its kind in the world that is open-air. Located in the heart of Macerata, it is seamlessly integrated with the city walls. Originally built for the game of pallone col bracciale, a popular sport in central Italy in the 19th century, since 1921, it has hosted one of Europe's most important summer opera festivals. It’s not just about opera: today, you can also enjoy concerts, musicals, and the Musicultura festival here.

EXHIBITIONS AND MUSEUMS

Palazzo Buonaccorsi and Palazzo Ricci

Two historic palaces in the heart of the city. Palazzo Buonaccorsi today, it houses the “Civic Museums of Palazzo Buonaccorsi” and features the Carriage Museum, collections of ancient and modern art, and the “Amedeo Ricci” library. The space is also open to temporary exhibitions and events.
Palazzo Ricci It houses a collection of 20th-century Italian art. The Historic Center

Piazza della Libertà

The heart of city life, Piazza delle Libertà features the Loggia dei Mercanti and the Astronomical Clock, unique in the world for displaying lunar phases and planetary movements. It is a gem of 18th-century art, unique in Italy, and represents the sole and precious example of Italian-style theater in the Marche region.
