Hospitality is a family tradition

The building that houses Hotel Lauri is steeped in history: constructed in the 17th century, it was purchased in 1736 by the noble Viscardi family, who were instrumental in establishing several cultural institutions in the city, including the historic Mozzi-Borgetti Municipal Library.

The history of Hotel Lauri began in 1964 when, after the division of the building into sections, Ernesto and Letizia Scheggia purchased the upper floors to create a small inn with just six rooms.
Thanks to the efforts of their eldest son Aldo, the inn gradually grew into a hotel with 33 rooms. Since 2012, Hotel Lauri has been managed by their granddaughter Arianna, who preserves the hotel’s legacy without nostalgia but with a continuous drive to innovate and renew the family traditions.

In the corridors of Hotel Lauri, one can feel the history of both a family and an entire city: the building also hosted the childhood of Dante Ferretti, the Oscar-winning set designer from Macerata.
